The actor who portrayed the zombie-killing character on the hit AMC show “The Walking Dead” died in a shooting at his home in Tennessee, police said.

Negan, who was in his early 50s, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:25 p.m.

Sunday.

He was the son of actor Bryan Negan.

“The family of Negan are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved father, actor Bryanne Negan,” the network said in a statement.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Negan’s family, friends and co-workers.

We will continue to work with law enforcement and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to fully understand what happened and ensure the safety of our community.”

Negan played Negan the zombie on the AMC series.

His character was played by Bryan Neham, who died in January.

The actor was known for his role as Negan in the AMC show.

He also starred on “The X-Files” as a police officer who had to deal with Negan as the zombie apocalypse swept through the city.

“I just love it.

I’m glad I got to play that character.

That’s why I get paid so much,” Negan told Entertainment Weekly in 2016.

“It’s a thrill.

I get to do that, and I’m blessed to do it.”

He also played the title character on “Battlestar Galactica.”

He was best known for playing the character on TV shows “Lost,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and “The Shield.”

Neham has been a professional wrestler for almost 20 years.

His career took off when he wrestled for WWE.

“You can never underestimate the power of a good performance,” Neham told PEOPLE.

“So many people say I’m a professional and that I’m very good.

I can’t say I am.

But I do feel very good about myself.”

He is survived by his wife, Kristina, two children, three grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
