By John GartnerThe last thing we need is another Twilight actor to pass away, and so we are reminded of that fact every year when a popular actor dies at the age of 50.
It’s an emotional roller coaster that leaves the community in mourning.
In the case of the actor and Twilight movie franchise, the end came after more than a decade of hard work and perseverance.
The Twilight actor, who had a string of hits including “Merry Christmas,” died Friday night in Los Angeles at the end of a lengthy illness.
The cause of death was listed as “liver failure.”
“Mondays are not just about me,” Twilight co-creator Robert Horsley told reporters, adding that he “never really thought that it would end this way.
But it did.
I’m very, very sad for the family.”
A source told ABC News that the actor died at his home in Hollywood, California, surrounded by family and close friends.
Horsley, a two-time Oscar nominee for his work on the films, had been in intensive care since December and underwent surgery for a blood clot.
“He was very much a family man,” Horsleys widow, Linda, said in a statement.
“We were saddened to hear the news of his passing.
The family has been incredibly supportive of him and his recovery.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the thousands of people who have been praying for us.”
Linda Horsly said that Robert Hardsley had been “a true hero” in the Twilight franchise and had “helped to inspire so many people.”
“Robert Hardsly was the best,” Linda Horsli said in the statement.
The last Twilight actor who died was Robert Llewellyn, who died in 2003 at age 65.
He had been playing a man named “The Devil” in “The Twilight Saga,” which was released in 2006.
Llewelyn was known for his role in the film “The Chronicles of Narnia” and for his portrayal of The Witch in “Sherlock Holmes.”
Llewelly is survived by his wife, a daughter, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The Twilight franchise has spawned more than 50 films and dozens of television shows, and is the longest-running animated TV series in the world.
The films were filmed between 1997 and 2010.
The movies were produced by Joss Whedon, who wrote the screenplay and directed the first two movies.
The first Twilight film, “Twilight,” debuted in 1990.
It followed a teenage girl named Twilight Sparkle and her friends on a magical adventure in the fictional world of The Twilight Zone.
The second Twilight film came out in 2003, and it starred Kristen Stewart and Michael Cera.
The third film, which debuted in 2009, starred Liam Hemsworth, who played the role of Twilight.
